Weekly Playlist :: 07-05-2021

Hey folks! Another week, another playlist. Pretty rock-heavy playlist this week, but still a good mix therein: everything from metal to prog to industrial, plus the obligatory electronic stuff. A few repeat tracks from names like Leftfield, Gary Numan, Rush, The Cars, and a few others.

On the subject of metal, Trivium's new single "In The Court of the Dragon" is on the playlist. It's a pretty great little thrash tune, and the music video is a PHENOMENAL and cinematic, which you don't see often in music videos these days (and very Lovecraftian, which I especially love). I'll embed the video after the playlist so you can check it out.

Also on this week's playlist is Cocteau Twins' "Heaven or Las Vegas" which I've had stuck in my head since seeing the footage of Miley Cyrus covering it during her Vegas show (You can watch that below as well, in fact, I'll throw the original music video in just for fun). Not sure how I feel about her rendition (I mean, she's no Liz Fraser), and I'm generally not a fan of her, but in general, all the cover work she's doing I fully support. Why? Simple: Covers, regardless of their quality, introduce people to new music. And as a music nerd, who loves sharing music with others, that's 100% awesome in my book. So keep on doing you, Miley.
